12.15.20 Dry Skin Part 2

“What if my body doesn’t handle fatty foods very well?” This is where we ended last week’s talk on nourishing our skin by eating healthy fats. The inside out approach. If you don’t feel well eating healthy fats, your liver and gallbladder may need some TLC!

Today we are talking about our liver for its production of bile and the role it has in breaking down fat. Bile acts like dish soap on a greasy pan. “The most important action of the bile salts is that of an emulsifier.” says Sarah Ballantyne PhD, author of Paleo Principles. The bile made in our liver is stored in our gallbladder until squirted on our digesting food where it goes to work breaking up fat molecules exposing vitamins and making smaller chained fatty acids that can be used as building blocks in our bodies such as, you guessed it, our skin!
